Brazilian Altus Debuts In PAC Market

The new Nexto PAC is designed for complex applications requiring high availability and reliability. 

With target applications ranging from manufacturing automation to infrastructure systems and industrial process control, the Nexto Series of Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) is the latest addition to the product family of the Brazilian company Altus ( www.altus.com.br).

"The Nexto Series combines features of Programmable Controller and personal computer (PC). It is a rugged and functional equipment in an open architecture with flexible software," says Algus President Luiz Gerbase.

Altus ensures that the PAC technology meets advanced systems requirements using features including programming per the IEC 61131-3 standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission, network redundancy, deterministic Ethernet architecture and a comprehensive diagnostic system. The Nexto Series is designed for complex applications that require high availability and reliability. Altus's research and development team invested about two years in the design of the new product and had the Indian company Messung as a partner in its technological development.

The other recent significant addition to the Altus product line is the Quasar Series for the electricity market, consisting of motor control centers and load distribution centers. The new equipment is characterized by high modularity and interchangeability. "These differences allow the reduction of installation costs and of shutdown maintenance times. Further, failure of any load or device does not cause a major shutdown of other equipment," says Gerbase.
