MXB-P belt-driven actuators from Tolomatic combine speed with load-support guidance

New MXB-P belt-driven linear actuators from Tolomatic feature a profiled rail guidance system that allows large moment loads, high-speed operation and high precision.
With a carriage that employs THK® Caged Ball® bearings, the MXB-P linear actuator is capable of velocities of up to 150 inches/second (3810 mm/sec) and accelerations of up to 1200 inches/second2   (30.48 m/sec2).  MXB-P belt-driven actuators are ideal for multi-axis applications such as test stations, product handling, laser marking, material cutting, adhesive dispensing or applications that require high linear velocities and accelerations, long stroke lengths and high duty cycles.

“The MXB-P belt-driven, guided actuator integrates the advantages of a linear belt solution with an advanced ball bearing load support and guidance system,” says Aaron Dietrich, electric product manager, Tolomatic.  “This combination allows machine builders to install a pre-assembled motion solution without the need for external guide rails or load support systems.  The MXB-P actuators also include Tolomatic’s Endurance TechnologySM features for maximum durability and extended service life.”

The MXB-P features a durable polyurethane high-torque drive (HTD) tooth profile drive belt with steel tensile members to resist stretching.  Belt tension can be easily adjusted through an open slot in the guide plate without disassembly of the actuator.  The drive shaft assembly incorporates oversized shielded/sealed ball bearings for long life and high speeds.  Built on a lightweight, clear, anodized aluminum extrusion for rigidity and strength, the design also features external bumpers to protect the belt-and-guide assembly from damage at the end-of-stroke.

MXB-P belt-driven actuators are available with optional direct drive that couples the electric motor to the drive shaft through a one-piece aluminum housing constructed for optimum alignment and support.  Reduction gear options of 3:1 or 2:1 are available.  Drive motors that meet customer specifications can be supplied by Tolomatic, or the drive housing can be customized to fit virtually any motor.

Standard MXB-P belt-driven actuators are available in six models ranging from 16 mm to 63 mm.  Stroke lengths are configurable in any increments up to 200 inches (5.0 meters), depending on body size.  All models ship in five (5) days or less.
