had installed Gen1 tags in a pilot in gearbox production. “The read rates ranged from 60 percent to 70 percent,” recalls Tobias Goetz, SAP’s director of business development for RFID. When the engineers switched to a new Gen2 tag, the read rate jumped immediately to 99 percent.
