Software-Based Controller

Print
FILED IN:  Embedded Control
SoftPAC works just like a programmable automation controller (PAC), but runs a PAC control strategy on a PC.

Because the same PAC Control strategy can run on both software and hardware controllers, the user can begin developing a strategy without hardware or change the controller used without having to redevelop. This reduces costs for a machine builder or an OEM with a PC already in a product, or wanting to use a PC for a new design. The software takes advantage of a PC's speed, file handling, and storage capabilities. It works well for applications that require complex math, that store gigabytes of data, or that constantly read and write files. It is available now as a component of PAC Project Professional 9.3, or it can be purchased separately.
