Emerson Makes Strategic Acquisitions
Emerson Process Management’s PlantWeb digital architecture uses intelligent digital networks to create smart platforms, floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) and on-shore facilities. Roxar’s products and software systems add major subsea capabilities, including smart downhole networks to support E&P owners’ growing need for real-time reservoir.
Roxar solutions are based on knowledge of reservoir flow dynamics by the company’s staff of geoscientists, engineers, software developers and computer scientists. The solutions combine real-time data from the company’s multiphase flow instruments, with predictive models from its software to help operators monitor production continuously, observe and control oil and gas fields from remote locations, process large volumes of vital reservoir data quickly and use the most up-to-date field information when making operational decisions.
As Emerson does for topside and on-shore process management, Roxar experts provide consultancy services for entire reservoir management, including topside, subsea and downhole. Roxar solutions allow reservoir operators to make reservoir management and flow assurance decisions with the maximum amount of information.
More power
The Scientific Instruments product line also becomes part of Emerson Process Management, expanding its Rosemount Analytical solutions with reliable, low-maintenance measuring systems used extensively in the power and steam generation industry, Emerson said.
“This acquisition strengthens our offering of solutions for the power market, in particular for sample water analysis systems,” said Ken Biele, president of the Rosemount Analytical division of Emerson. “In addition, it provides increased capabilities in our drinking and waste water product offering.”
The Scientific Instruments product line includes silica, sodium, phosphate and hydrazine monitors that are used worldwide to control and safeguard critical plant processes, providing assurance to operators and management that the processes are operating efficiently. All monitors measure up to six streams per analyzer.
This offering complements and expands Rosemount Analytical’s offering of pH, conductivity and chlorine sensors to the power and water industries, Emerson said. The acquisition includes the industry proven Models CFA180 and recently introduced Model CFA185.
The Roxar and Scientific Instruments deals follow Emerson’s April 6 announcement of the acquisition of epro GmbH ( www.epro.de), Gronau, Germany, a provider of machinery monitoring technology.
