Car enthusiasts and gizmo lovers visiting the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (Jan 6-9) can gawk at the most intuitive bit of automotive design and engineering yet – Rinspeed’s Etos concept car, equipped with HARTING’s IIC MICA. The MICA is an intelligent, modular platform of open hardware and software developed to meet the needs of small and medium-sized Industry 4.0 solutions, chiefly in machine and plant construction and mobile machinery. In the Etos concept vehicle, this compact, economically priced and extremely robust computer will provide independent emission and condition monitoring information to the driver.

“The collaboration with Rinspeed is a great opportunity for HARTING to show what MICA can do”, says Philip Harting, President/Partner and Chairman of the HARTING Technology Group. Dr. Jan Regtmeier, Director Product Manager, IT Software Development, adds “MICA enables a very quick and simple integration in a wide range of vehicle types. The implementation in the Etos shows this in an excellent manner.” MICA is ideally suited for the battery management of electric vehicles, the energy management of machines and plant – everything online and remote enabled – or other data capture and communication tasks. HARTING has received strong interest in MICA from potential buyers, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2016.
