Honeywell Partners with SAP for ERP

Print
Oil and gas industry said to be first to benefit from integrated software and services offerings.

Diversified technology and manufacturing company Honeywell International (Morris Township, N.J.) announced a partnership with enterprise software vendor SAP AG to deliver collaborative solutions in which data generated from an industrial plant can lead to better business decisions. The companies plan to offer integrated offerings, initially focused on the oil and gas market, combining Honeywell Process Solutions’ (HPS) deep domain expertise in production planning and scheduling with SAP’s know-how in enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain logistics and business analytics.

“Collaboration between the manufacturing and commercial sides of oil and gas organizations can be a challenge,” said Norm Gilsdorf, president, Honeywell Process Solutions.  “Our solutions and domain expertise bridge the gap because they enable information and insight from a plant to be combined with information from the enterprise, resulting in clear communication and quick and correct decision making—the dream of every good business leader.”

In its statement Honeywell said the partnership will “enable proactive, and, where necessary, preventative measures that will avoid production downtime while keeping people, the environment and assets safe. This collaboration from Honeywell and SAP addresses the knowledge gap between business and operations groups in both upstream and downstream oil and gas organizations through greater sharing, collaboration and analysis of relevant data generated at both the plant level and across the enterprise.”

Kerstin Geiger, co-head of SAP’s Industries Solution Management group, said data from disparate sources can be combined and analyzed through the use of SAP BusinessObjects analytic applications. “Our integrated portfolio will help oil and gas operations run better by enabling the closed-loop management of operations performance. Our cooperation will help drive innovations to market that will exploit SAP’s analytics, in-memory and mobility technologies, and ultimately transform the oil and gas operations.”

The move is in line with a greater emphasis within the process industries on collaborative production management (CPM) . Organizations are looking at the enterprise as a whole and making strategic purchasing decisions to roll out common CPM applications across all facilities. Using CPM, companies can integrate applications, business benefits, and strategies with actions using real-time information.
