PoE+ Gigabit Switch for Machine Vision or Broadband Wireless

Print
A new industrial PoE+ switch simultaneously supports both bandwidth-hungry and power-hungry applications, making it ideal for high-performance PoE applications.

The EDS-G205A-4PoE features 5 Gigabit ports, 4 of which deliver up to 30 watts of power according to IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ standards for Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE). This is double the amount of power that was available on the original PoE standard (15W).

“The EDS-G205A-4PoE delivers both performance and convenience in a compact and industrial-hardened package,” said Jim Toepper, product marketing manager at Moxa Americas. “The combination of Gigabit performance and easy access to power really makes it ideal for higher-bandwidth PoE applications like machine vision cameras and long-distance broadband wireless applications that cannot compromise on video resolution or wireless throughput.”

The EDS-G205A-4PoE’s dual 24/48 VDC power input enables power redundancy and makes it very convenient to deploy in automation control networks. Installation, operation, and troubleshooting is further simplified for industrial users with Moxa’s SmartPoE technology, which includes over-current protection, short circuit protection, and power status detection via LED indicators. The compact design and wide temperature support (40 to 75°C for select models) also means that the EDS-G205A-4PoE is at home in outdoor cabinets.

The product is the latest addition to a strong line-up of PoE solutions, which includes industrial Ethernet switches, PoE splitters, PoE injectors, PoE media converter, and powered devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points.
