Yokogawa acquires Analytical Specialties
As I intimated yesterday, the big news of the conference is Yokogawa has established a Laser Analytical Division and acquired Analytical Specialties Inc. of Houston to be that division. It reports through the Analytical Business Unit that is part of Yokogawa Corporation of America. The company makes gas analyzers using tunable diode laser spectroscopy technology. It is built from what are essentially cargo containers that, when disassembled, can travel over the road on semi-rigs or on a barge (which it will from Chicago down the St. Lawrence River to eventually New York City). Yokogawa user conference
I'm at the Yokogawa User Conference in Houston, on break from the opening keynotes. Yokogawa America president Dave Johnson said in his presentation that it and "one other competitor" showed the highest growth rates last year, and by Yokogawa's calculation it is now the second largest industrial automation supplier in the space....
