Switches Get Advanced Features
The Allen-Bradley Stratix 8000 modular managed switch line has been upgraded with advanced features designed to improve system flexibility and uptime. These enhancements include the implementation of the Resilient Ethernet Protocol (REP), DHCP per port and the CIP Sync Time Protocol. The REP is a high-speed ring protocol that allows switches to be connected in a ring, ring segment or nested ring segments. DHCP per port allows the switch to assign IP addresses to end devices connected to the switch... Read more
Bridge Terminal Enhances Synchronization
The EL6692 bridge terminal allows data to be exchanged between individual EtherCat systems or the distributed clocks of different systems without synchronization, directly in the I/O system. In addition to “normal” data exchange, the bridge permits distributed clock synchronization (exact calibration of distributed clocks) between several masters, in exact drive synchronization required in spatially distributed machines. The terminal can help integrate subordinate PCs, for example DIN rail mounted CX Embedded PCs. The terminal system permits communication to 1,000 distributed I/O in 30 microseconds (µs), almost unlimited network size and optimum vertical integration using industrial Ethernet and Internet technologies... Flowmeter Redesign Boosts Flexibility
The Smart-Trak 2 is said to be a significant re-design of the vendor’s flagship Series 100 Digital Mass Flowmeters and Controllers, with new features adding more control, independence and flexibility. Also new is the Compod, a Smart-Trak 2 add-on that expands networking, streamlines and simplifies functionality and reduces costs. Expanded functionality of Smart-Trak 2 includes: true linear performance provides high accuracy and great flexibility in multiple gases; Dial-A-Gas technology enables users to select from up to ten pre-programmed gases or substitute their own; the ability to adjust calibration in the field for each of these 10 gases independently; Pilot Module (mounted or hand-held) lets users view... Synchronize Lean Material Flow
FlexNet Lean Material Flow software for global manufacturing operations management (MOM) was developed in collaboration with Accenture to support Lean Manufacturing. It is designed to better synchronize material flows, lower costs and improve collaboration across operations. The solution fills some of the “white spaces” or gaps around enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications in Lean Manufacturing environments, says the vendor, benefiting manufacturers who seek to reduce waste and cut cycle times while improving quality in logistics operations, production and customer responsiveness... High-current Connectors Resist Vibration
The IP67-rated, A-Size 3- and 4-pin 7/8 16UN Powerfast connectors are designed to handle high-current applications for machine power distribution, while delivering resistance to vibration associated with conveyors, motors and material handling applications. The connectors provide up to 600V and 15A of power in a modular wiring design, and are available in cordsets with tray-rated, exposed-run PVC flexlife cable. These cordsets are additionally offered with or without STOOW rating and feature 14 AWG wires that allow users to replace hardwiring with a robust, quick disconnect system, saving installation time and money vs. traditional conduit systems...
