This is the first webcast in a four-part, Industrial Ethernet Series for 2009.

Application targets for industrial Ethernet include non-real time (for example, controller to HMI), real time (control data), and hard real time (with added determinism for applications such as distributed motion control).

In this free hour-long Webcast, we will examine why industrial protocols are moving to Ethernet, and introduce specific Ethernet protocols, such as PROFINET, EtherCAT and EtherNET/IP. Our expert speakers will provide an Ethernet overview, define terminology and cite specific application examples.

This Automation Webcast originally ran on April 2, 2009.

Speakers:

Robert Jackson
National Instruments, Senior Product Manager

Carl Henning
PTO, PROFIBUS and PROFINET, Deputy Director
