A re-engineered family of motor control centers (MCCs) are arc-resistance, compliant with ANSI/IEEE C37.20.7 standards and filled with features designed to serve water and wastewater, oil and gas, and general process industries. The new tiastar MCC line includes what the company says is the first arc-resistant MCC compliant to ANSI/IEEE C37.20.7; its ability to contain and redirectic arc flash incident energy has been successfully witness tested in the presence of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) representatives. High-density designs meeting UL and NEMA standards reduce unit size, allowing for up to a 10 percent weight reduction and a 25 percent smaller footprint than previous models. Optional SmartStart plug-and-play functionality reportedly reduces commissioning time with pre-programmed and pre-configured data. The new NEMA MCC family includes four models: tiastar Base, tiastar HD. tiastar H2O (designed specifically for the water and wastewater industries with integrated drives and predictive diagnostics for a quick resolution of process issues) and tiastar Smart. The latter, designed for the advanced needs of high end process industries, uses Profibus technology, advanced diagnostics and  significantly easier troubleshooting and start up. An autonomous back-up function ensures continued operation in case of general network failure. Siemens Industry, Inc.www.usa.siemens.com/Industrywww.usa.siemens.com/automation
