The number one reason sensors fail is repeated or excessive physical contact with heavy or fast-moving metal objects.
The Steelface family of extended range sensors combine a rugged single-piece stainless steel housing with 2 to 3 times the sensing range of standard inductive proximity sensors, says the vendor. This combination of rugged housing and extended sensing range makes these sensors well-suited for applications where they may incur contact. Their longer sensing distance allows the sensor to be mounted further away from the target, which lessens or eliminates sensor contact. The Steelface extended range sensor family includes 12mm, 18mm, and 30mm (shielded and unshielded) sensors.
