Ashok K. Nangia is the senior staff engineer, Process, Instrumentation and Control Systems (PI&CS), at 3M (www.mmm.com), a $16 billion diversified technology company serving consumer, office, electronics, health care and industrial markets, among others. Headquartered in St. Paul, Minn., the company has operations in more than 60 countries and is one of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

As the process control corporate technology leader, Nangia develops strategic approaches for advanced technology to provide 3M with a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Nangia’s business career with 3M spans more than twenty-five years. He is an expert in the application of process control technologies, including advanced process control, programmable logic controllers, supervisory control systems, computer networking and integration of process control with information systems.

Nangia has spoken at several industry conferences and forums, and is a founding member and key contributor to many accomplishments of the Microsoft Manufacturing Users Group. Recently, he was appointed as chair of the MS-MUG, which is a working group within the Open Modular Architecture Controls (OMAC) user group. Nangia has a master’s degree in chemical engineering and is a registered professional engineer in the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota.
