Rich Ryan was named President of Rockwell Software in November 1994. In January 2003, he assumed the additional role of Vice President of Software and Information Solutions for Rockwell Automation, tasked with enabling Rockwell to focus on the manufacturing execution systems (MES) market space, while strengthening sales growth and operating performance.
Since joining Rockwell Automation in 1976, Ryan has held a number of positions in sales, marketing and general management. In 1988, he was appointed Director, Small Programmable Controller Products. In 1990, Ryan was appointed Vice President, Control Systems, for the Industrial Computer and Communication Group.
Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976 from the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago.
