Brooks, AssurX Team Up

Dec. 22, 2004
A joint-development agreement will provide an integrated manufacturing execution and quality management solution aimed at discrete manufacturers.

Many manufacturers face a greater requirement today to provide product tracking and traceability, driven by new federal regulations, as well as the need to reduce warranty costs.

One of the latest vendor solutions aimed at meeting this need will come through a joint-development agreement between Brooks Software, a division of Brooks Automation Inc., Chelmsford, Mass., and AssurX Inc., based in Morgan Hills, Calif.

Under terms of the deal, announced Dec. 15, Brooks, a provider of real-time applications for enterprises with collaborative, complex manufacturing operations, will resell AssurX’s CatsWeb non-conformance, corrective/preventive action and compliance applications to its global customer base. CatsWeb is an enterprise quality tracking software solution. In addition, Brooks will use CatsWeb components in solutions for the discrete manufacturing marketplace, and both companies will also conduct joint marketing activities.
