Automation Drives Subaru’s Industry-Record Turnaround Times

April 16, 2019
Subaru’s keynote at this year’s Automation World Conference & Expo, May 14-15 in Chicago, will showcase the software that makes it possible.

At a time when the automotive industry as a whole faces challenges and change, Subaru of America’s keynote address at Automation World Conference & Expo (May 14-15 at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare) will offer insight into how automation software is being used to run large parts of its Indiana manufacturing facility to keep Subaru ahead of the competition. This software, from GE Digital, is helping Subaru meet production and quality targets, delivering industry-record turnaround times between customer orders and delivery for its Subaru Legacy brand.

In this session, Trent Lester, Subaru’s group leader for integration of production control systems, will outline Subaru’s automation journey so far. Lester will address the challenges they face in a plant that sees a completed car roll off the production line every minute—and where they plan to go next.

Also presenting at this year’s rebranded event are other well-known industrial companies, including Land O’ Frost, H.B. Fuller, BWI Group and Interstates Control Systems.

H.B. Fuller's Jason Sagstetter, global IT project manager, will dive into its implementation of wearable devices and augmented reality (AR) as a tool to improve operator efficiency in production environments and will also address audience questions about the value and application of wearables and AR in an industrial setting.

Now in its ninth year, the Automation World Conference & Expo is the leading peer-to-peer educational and networking event for industrial automation professionals in the discrete manufacturing, packaging and processing industries. Featuring general sessions delivered by end users from multiple industries, the event also includes in-depth technology workshops and tabletop exhibits staffed by experts.

The 2019 program will explore how companies are using robotics and automation, the Industrial Internet of Things/Industry 4.0, wearable devices with augmented and virtual reality, cybersecurity, virtual machine design, workforce development and more.

Scheduled for May 14-15 at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare, the Automation World Conference & Expo is produced by PMMI Media Group, a division of PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, and publishers of Automation World and Packaging World. Registration and additional program details are available at automationworldconference.com or by calling 1-800-355-5595.
