Icon-based Interface for Mobile Diagnostics

June 1, 2011
A new icon-based user interface for the 475 Field Communicator features graphical menus and “dashboards” that provide a clear view of a device’s operating health.

The icon-based interface functions has a touchscreen for one-finger selection of various tasks, including quick connection to field devices and ValveLink Mobile. Once a field device is identified, task-based menus enable technicians to carry out maintenance or troubleshooting routines. The ValveLink Mobile software application delivers advanced control valve diagnostics for Fisher Fieldvue instruments. It uses the icon-based interface to simplify access to HART control valve data and is easily navigated with the commonly-used flick, zoom in, and zoom out capabilities. For example, users can select an icon to initiate a series of valve tests, including a total check of the configuration, calibration, diagnostics, and other key parameters. Diagnostic data can be viewed and stored in the 475 Field Communicator or uploaded to AMS Suite for additional evaluation.
