Safety Input/Output Modules

June 1, 2011
SafetyBridge I/O modules expand the company’s SafetyBridge system, which can be implemented using any automation network.

Safety-relevant output modules as well as a logic module with expanded functional scope have been added to modules already available. Fourteen different safety-relevant function modules, from a simple emergency stop to various muting blocks are available. Various modules are available with outputs that switch with plus, plus/minus, and floating outputs with electrical isolation. With the new functional scope of modules, up to 48 safety-relevant single-channel or 24 two-channel inputs or outputs can be acquired and output. Safeconf software is used to parameterize modules and configure the safety logic. Because the system is independent of any particular network and control system, it provides a high degree of flexibility when integrating functional safety into machines and systems, according to the company; when mixed with the company’s non-safety-relevant Inline input/output devices, safety-relevant modules can be distributed at a level beneath standard control systems in the network.
