Bearingless Absolute Encoders

March 6, 2011
The ECI 119 is an absolute, inductive rotary encoder with a low profile (height of 19mm, outside diameter 92mm) and large through shaft (50, 38, or 30mm), making it well suited for electric motors in packaging applications. The encoder is single-turn and absolute, offering 524,288 (19 bit) positions per revolution and ±90-in. system accuracy.

Its bearingless design eliminates concerns about bearing wear/loading. Two types of output are offered:  purely serial data (EnDat21) or serial data with 1 Vpp incremental signals (EnDat 01). An updated version of the Adjusting and Testing Software is available that allows diagnostic checks of the encoder position signals.
