Miniature Digital Servo Drive

Nov. 18, 2010
Elmo Motion Control has announced the launch of a new EtherCAT-ready digital servo drive in its Gold Line: the high power-density, PCB-mounted Gold Whistle which offers up to 1.6 kW of continuous power and 3.2 kW of peak power in a remarkably compact package.
The Gold Whistle is a super miniature network-based servo drive with dimensions of just 55 x 46 x 15 mm, and weighing a mere 55 g.

The Gold Whistle is highly efficient, has high bandwidth performance and supports a wide variety of feedback types including Incremental Encoder, Resolver, Digital and Analog Hall, Tachometer and Potentiometer. The drive has multiple communication options that include EtherCAT, CANopen, Ethernet, USB and RS-232.

"Elmo Motion Control's engineers have again succeeded in bringing innovative solutions to the marketplace. Ultimately, the most important user community for us are the application engineers who integrate Elmo's motion control solutions into their applications. They are looking for flexible solutions that are lightweight, high power and support the latest EtherCAT communications technology." Haim Monhait, CEO of Elmo Motion Control continued:

"We launched the Gold Line technology about a year ago. This represented a real step forward and we are now in the process of launching a range of 10-12 new servo drives that are all based on this new technology. These are exciting times for Elmo, and based on the feedback we receive from our customers and the participants at international exhibitions, we know that our excitement is shared by application engineers all over the world."

In conjunction with the Gold Maestro, Elmo's network motion controller, the Gold Whistle can be integrated into a network enabling sophisticated applications to be developed and implemented in a short time-frame.
