ORP Measurement Minimizes Corrosion

March 5, 2010
Oxidation reduction potential (ORP) measurement—a key parameter for minimizing corrosion in power plant equipment such as turbines and piping—has been added to the HPW7000 High-Purity Water Measurement System.
The HPW7000 is an electrode mounting assembly designed specifically for pH measurement in high-purity water applications. The special flow chamber and electrode mounting simplifies installation and calibration while providing a pH measurement said to be unsurpassed in accuracy and stability. Adding the ORP electrode gives plant chemists, plant managers, maintenance engineers and safety and reliability engineers a more accurate picture of oxidation levels in high-purity water systems where the conductivity of the water samples is less than 10 microsiemens per centimeter (uS/cm). “Reliably measuring ORP levels in these applications has historically been complicated, but it’s a worthwhile investment if plants can use the data to maintain optimal reagent levels in the feedwater and thus reduce corrosion,” says Thomas Griffiths, global product marketing manager.Honeywell Process Solutionshttp://hpsweb.honeywell.com800.822.7673
