Expandable, Modular Safety System

May 6, 2009
The Sirius 3RK3 modular safety system combines the simplicity of a safety relay with the sophistication of a fail-safe programmable logic controller (PLC).
The Sirius 3RK3 allows operators to quickly and easily replace devices as necessary or expand the system as needed. The system’s central unit is designed with eight safety-related inputs, one safety-related relay output, and one safety-related solid-state output. Users can connect up to seven expansion modules to the central unit. Expansion modules include safety-oriented input modules, mixed modules with safe inputs and relay or electronic outputs, and standard output modules. The Sirius 3RK3 is certified for use in safety applications to Cat 4 in accordance with EN954-1, and SIL3 in accordance with IEC 61508/62061.Siemens Energy & Automation Inc.www.sea.siemens.com800.241.4463
