Drives Add Safety Functions

Dec. 1, 2008
The TM54F is designed as a cost-saving terminal safety module that expands the Integrated Safety functions of the vendor’s Sinamics S120 drives, by integrating safety functions including safe operating stop, safe limited speed and safe speed monitor.
The TM54F module reduces overall machine building and commissioning costs by eliminating the need for hardwired contactors, while maintaining CAT 3/SIL 2 safety standards. Emergency stop buttons, light curtains and other safety devices are connected directly to the TM54F. The module connects via the Drive-CLiQ backplane connection of the drive, eliminating the need for an external network. The TM54F is well-suited for uncomplicated machines implementing a safety system, since a safety PLC is not required.Siemens Energy & Automation Inc.www.sinamics.com800.964.4114
