Float Switches Transmit Data

Oct. 1, 2008
Mobrey magnetic float switches are now available for use with the Rosemount 702 wireless discrete transmitter, a marriage which, says the vendor, allows plant managers to collect needed data while saving up to 90 percent of installation cost compared with wired technologies.
Unpowered and mechanical, the switches are used in a variety of applications, such as chemical, petrochemical processing and offshore installations where their simple design enhances reliability in harsh conditions. They are said to be particularly well suited for use with high/low level alarms, pump control and other tasks in which switch use had previously been uneconomical.
