New capabilities in v5.5 include: improved ability to assess the cost of sand-cast products; improved understanding of cost implications of tolerance and roughness specification; cross-facility costing, enabling cost computation for a single component manufactured across multiple internal or supplier factories; and enhanced cost analysis and scenario modeling for performing detailed analysis/comparisons between v5.5-costed parts and/or assemblies, third-party quotes and historical costing data. The Enterprise Cost Management platform is designed to tell the customer with certainty how much it will cost to build a product using a specific operation and to reduce cost of goods sold (COGS) by identifying quantifiable savings in material, tooling, labor and overhead while evaluating alternative designs, processes and sources. The platform is patented technology that generates precise product cost assessments in real-time as a product is being developed, says the vendor, using direct integration to CAD solutions, and virtual production environments that capture characteristics of users’ or suppliers’ factories.
