Profibus Interfaces Boost Flexibility

April 9, 2008
PCI and PXI Profibus interfaces are now available with the vendor’s LabView software to add compatibility and flexibility to industrial systems.
With these new interfaces, Profibus engineers can integrate LabView into benchtop, real-time and device test networks. The new interfaces include a LabView driver with Express VIs for rapid application development. Express VIs are configuration-based blocks that simplify communication between the networks. With these blocks, engineers can add Profibus support to new or existing applications for human-machine interface (HMI), SCADA, real-time control and test without additional programming. The interfaces can function as either master or slave devices on Profibus networks. Engineers can use the interface to control Profibus slave devices such as motor drives, sensors, distributed I/O and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
