Precise Time-of-flight Sensors

March 13, 2008
The S80 Time-of-Flight Class 2 laser distance sensor features the ability to detect objects as small as 0.4mm.
Time-of-Flight technology is based on the measurement of the time between the emission and receipt of laser light pulses. The amount of time the pulse takes to reach the target and return is measured and converted to a distance measurement. This ensures S80 sensors makes accurate distance measurements as far as 7 meters away, making the S80 well-suited for long-range applications. Each S80 sensor is housed in a rugged IP67-rated metal housing, and is equipped with two PNP or NPN outputs, a scaleable 4-20mA output and an RS485 serial interface for remote monitoring and settings. IDEC Corp.
