OPC Users Welcome Developer Network Program

Aug. 1, 2006
Developers are pleased with Cyberlogic’s offer of free OPC servers for development, test, support and demonstration purposes.

“The user response to the DevNet program has been phenomenal,” says Dan Muller, the Director of the Cyberlogic Developer Network. “The feedback we are receiving from the user community confirms that we addressed a great need, and the number of developers taking advantage of this offer is significant and growing.”

Cyberlogic, a leading supplier of OPC software based in Troy, Mich., recently announced a new program to ship free OPC servers and communication drivers to developers. The program, called the Cyberlogic Developer Network, or DevNet, allows each person with a DevNet license to use the software that is included in the DevNet program for development, test, support and demonstration purposes.

“We understand that developers have unique needs, so we have included special activation privileges for DevNet subscribers,” says Muller. “Each DevNet subscription product key can be used to activate software up to three times. This allows the user to have a development system, a test computer and perhaps a demo computer or a tech support system without the need to purchase any additional software licenses.” Active DevNet subscribers are also eligible to receive new product activation keys and updated software automatically, and all DevNet subscribers have access to free and full tech support from Cyberlogic.

“Of course, you may not use your DevNet subscription as a substitute for purchasing a runtime license if you do more than develop and test on your computer,” says Muller. The DevNet licenses are for full-featured, retail versions of the software, but the DevNet licenses are not intended to be used in continuous production.

Sign-up is simple

The Cyberlogic DevNet program is offered worldwide, and qualified developers can apply for a DevNet subscription at Cyberlogic’s website. “We kept it really simple,” continues Muller. “It takes only one minute to sign-up and it’s free. You can’t beat that.”
