Model Predictive Controller Supervision

June 1, 2006
The vendor’s PlantTriage Performance Supervision Software now provides supervision of Model Predictive Controllers (MPC).

Without performance supervision in place, MPC controller performance often degrades over time, says the vendor, even to the point of being disabled by operators. PlantTriage uses economic information and controller data to calculate assessments that indicate if the MPC controller is continuing to provide a high return on investment. Assessments that are unique to PlantTriage are designed to ensure MPC control at optimal levels. Within PlantTriage, MPC controller performance is tracked, trended and historized at the controller, unit, plant and site levels. Web-based visualization tools display the information. Drill-down capabilities are used to drive analysis to a root cause.
