Ruggedized Notebook PC

March 1, 2006
A new spill-resistant keyboard has been incorporated into the vendor’s Black Hawk ruggedized notebook PC to keep spilled liquids away from the internal components.

The Black Hawk is designed as a powerful, yet relatively lightweight (6.6 pounds) notebook to withstand harsh environments. The unit’s 15.1-in. antireflective TFT display with optional sunlight readable LCD uses a special screen treatment that makes the display 50% to 75% more viewable in sunlight, says the vendor. The Black Hawk is powered by an Intel Pentium M 1.6GHz to 2.1GHz processor. Connectivity includes built-in 802.11b/g wireless LAN, a 10/100 Base-T port, Internal Mini PCI and a 56K V.90 fax modem. Operating on either AC or internal 4.5-hour battery, the Black Hawk performs reliably in temperatures from 40ºF to 98ºF and stores safely from -4ºF to +140ºF. Loaded with Windows XP, the vendor will customize the unit with other applications such as LabView and GPS locator. Black Hawk pricing starts at $2,595 with substantial quantity discounts available.
