OPC Goes On the Road

March 1, 2006
Instead of drawing interoperability enthusiasts from around the world to one spot, OPC is coming to you—in a series of road shows and events scheduled during 2006.

The OPC Foundation is making it easy for you to get updated and educated on new OPC technologies and applications. You won’t want to miss the chance to attend an OPC On-the-Road training event, coming soon to a city near you. Like the famous Lollapalooza festivals of the 1990s, which brought underground music culture to cities in the mainstream, the OPC On-the-Road training events will stop in Houston, Atlanta, Chicago and Boston, during the months of May, July, August and September.

The vendor sponsors for each event will present a compelling OPC-related agenda of application successes, and information on new servers, clients, performance enhancements, security and the OPC Unified Architecture. Best of all, each event features a kick-butt, real-live demonstration of OPC technology at work.

Interoperability no gamble

In April, it’s the servers vs. the clients in Las Vegas, as 25 OPC server vendors and 25 OPC client vendors meet to seek the OPC Foundation blessing on interoperability issues. The OPC Interoperability Event will be held April 3-7 at the South Coast Hotel in Las Vegas, to ensure end-users are getting secure, reliable compliance in their OPC solutions. When those interoperability certificates are issued, you can be sure that what happens in Vegas this time will NOT stay in Vegas.

Another OPC event for 2006, held in yet another great party city, is the OPC UA Developers’ Conference, scheduled for Munich in October. This two-day event is expected to draw 150 attendees, developers and end-user guest speakers, to jump-start vendor development of OPC UA products.

Also during 2006, the OPC Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary. Stay tuned for exciting announcements about past successes and future OPC UA solutions, as OPC travels the country with a celebratory press tour marking this important milestone.

And last, but not least, the OPC Foundation continues its travels to your email in-box, with our OPConnect electronic newsletter. Four issues in 2006—scheduled for March, May, September and November—will keep you up-to-date on OPC events, developments and new solutions for cross-platform interoperability.
