Smaller, Faster Servo

March 1, 2005
Smaller and faster than earlier models, the MR-J3 servo achieves high speed and accuracy with a host of new features. The J3’s high torque motor can operate at up to 6000 rpm, and with a speed frequency response of 900Hz, can shorten positioning times.

Twenty percent smaller than its predecessor, the J3’s high resolution (262, 155 ppr) encoder is mounted as standard to realize stability even at low speeds. Its amplifier, which is 40 percent smaller than the current model, has less wiring and smaller connectors, for mounting in smaller spaces. Adaptive control and an automatic tuning function make precise tuning as simple as changing the response setting value, and the J3’s advanced vibration control is designed to suppress vibrations automatically. Set-up, diagnostics and tuning are easy, says the vendor, thanks to MR Configurator, a Windows-based software package. The MR-Configurator has improved diagnostic functions including advanced machine analyzer, oscilloscope and high speed monitor.
