Secure Factory Web Access

Nov. 1, 2004
MNS-6K Ethernet management software Release 3.0 includes Secure Web Management functionality, which provides authentication and encryption to assure that Web connections with a factory are secure.

The software is available on the vendor’s Magnum 6K-Series Managed Ethernet Switches. Release 3.0 includes the following Secure Web Management capabilities: SNMPv3, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) to enable the embedded Web server in 6K Switches to handle secure HTTP (HTTPS), the highest level of access security available. Using SNMP and SSL/TSL, MNS-6K can provide authentication, ensuring that a user is who he or she claims to be, and encryption to ensure that the password-protected access to an application cannot be compromised. The software enables engineers and service technicians to securely manage an Ethernet switch over the Internet from any location using a browser, says the vendor.
