Cam It Electronically

Jan. 1, 2004
Design engineers can use the TwinCAT Cam Design Tool to develop electronic camming systems that are easier on servo motors, require less energy, provide more accurate position and generate better equations for smoothing than in the past, says the vendor.

The Cam Design Tool provides a graphical interface for developing and tweaking electronic CAM tables within the vendor’s TwinCAT programming environment. The CAM table, which shows the relationship between the master and slave axis, is displayed both graphically and in table format. The graphical method allows for adjusting the position, acceleration and jerk by clicking different points on the graph. When online, the graphical display will show actual vs. calculated position, acceleration and jerk.
