Curved Surfaces? No Problem

Nov. 1, 2003
PatFlex is the latest member of the vendor’s PatMax family of geometric pattern finding technologies for machine vision. PatFlex enables a vision system to locate an object, feature or pattern whose perspective has changed or whose surface is curved, warped, wrinkled or stretched.

PatFlex enables the optical verification of characters marked on curved surfaces, for example, where perspective and bow distortions are common. It is also suitable for applications in which the object changes shape during production, such as packaging operations using non-rigid containers such as pouches or bags. PatFlex will be released during the fourth quarter for use with the vendor’s personal computer-based machine vision platforms, and will be available in the vendor’s VisionPro graphical development environment and the CVL software developers kit.
