One-Piece Pick Sensing

Oct. 1, 2003
The PVD Series Parts Verification Sensor features large green or red job lights that provide visual cues to guide assemblers through a part-picking sequence and notify of an incorrect or out-of-sequence selection.

The PVD’s one-piece self-contained emitter/receiver design offers automatic sensing mode selection of either diffuse or retroreflective sensing mode, depending on the presence or absence of a retroreflective target sensing material. The diffuse mode is suitable for smaller bins and has a sensing range up to 400 mm while the retroreflective mode accommodates larger bins with an extended 2 m range. The one-piece sensor design saves in wiring costs and is priced starting at $233, which the vendor says is 45 percent less than a typical two-piece system.
