Current Sensors

Sept. 1, 2003
By combining a split-core design and quick-connect wiring, the AP and APR Series current transducers offer reduced installation times for panel mount applications.

The devices, housed in a compact DIN-rail mountable enclosure, provide user-selectable input ranges from 10Ato 400A, a choice of 4-20mA or 0-5/0-10V outputs, and a large sensing aperture with built-in stress relief for input wiring. The AP and APR products rely on a sensing technique known as PRIME, for Planar Rogowski I Measurement, in which current is sensed without the use of a traditional magnetic circuit. This technology gives the transducer immunity against saturation due to over-current conditions, while maintaining an absolute accuracy of better than 0.8 percent over a broad range of inputs, the vendor says.
