New Pocket PLC Offers Expanded Memory

Nov. 5, 2010
The updated RIO Pocket PLC, from Galil Motion Control, now offers 400 lines of program memory, 254 symbolic variables and six programmable PID loops compared to two in previous versions.

"The PLC is suited for customers that require more space for application programs or need to use additional variables or arrays in their program," says Lisa Wade, vice president of sales and marketing, Galil Motion Control. Also included are screw terminals for prototyping, which allow discrete wires from various I/O devices to connect directly to the unit.

With a 32-bit processor and non-volatile memory for storing user programs, the product features arithmetic and logical processing, process control loops, data logging, counters and timers. Each unit contains 8 analog inputs and 16 optically isolated inputs and outputs, and can be networked together for unlimited I/O expansion.

The unit offers communication via Ethernet and RS232, supports Modbus TCP/IP as master and slave, web interface and the ability to send email alerts. Programming includes two-letter commands or Ladder Interface Software. The controller receives power from Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) or from an external supply of 18V-36V DC and measures 7.19 x 3.52 in.
