By combining the base of EZPLC with EZPanel HMI in one highly integrated package, the EZTouchPLC eliminates the need to buy and install a PLC and operator interface separately. The result is a savings of up to 35 percent on panel space in a solution that is extremely cost-effective.
With models starting at $510 for a 32 digital I/O system (16 digital in/16 digital out), the EZTouchPLC is built to compete in the market of embedded controllers without the hassle of C level programming or proprietary microprocessor boards. Prior programming knowledge is not required to design a screen using the EZTouchPLC’s easy and intuitive programming software. HMI features include 3-D graphical objects such as push-buttons, meters, PID faceplates and others that are high-speed, scalable, vector-based objects; display text in up to nine different languages; and a built-in symbol factory with more than 4,000 symbols.
While most competitive Micro PLCs are limited to 8kbyte to 16kbyte of memory, the EZTouchPLC’s 64kbyte total memory ups the ante, enabling storage of up to 2,000 messages or 500 (20-variable) recipes, and up to 10,000 four-variable data points can be collected. The EZTouchPLC uses two processors—a 32-bit, 40MHz RISC processor dedicated to PLC processing and a separate processor for HMI. This produces outstanding Micro PLC performance levels, with scantime specifications rivaling those of some of the fastest full-blown PLCs. Additionally, because each processor has its own power supply, a touchscreen failure would not impact the PLC operation.
The EZTouchPLC uses EZAutomation’s EZI/O modules for I/O (starting at $19 for 8 digital out), which can be chosen from a large variety of options, including analog I/O, high speed counter, relay and AC/DC combos. The EZTouchPLC’s communication capability is notable for its class, with built-in RS422/485 port and DeviceNet, Profibus and Ethernet options.
The EZTouchPLC is offered in 8 models, ranging in price from $510 for a model with 6-inch white-on-blue display with 32 I/O, up to $2,469 for a model with 15-inch TFT Color, VGA display with 64 I/O.
