Forget fishing lures. Drones will find and catch your fish while you watch from the boat.
So much for sport fishing, the PowerRay submersible drone is redefining recreational fishing by letting you sit back and relax while it does all of the work.
The drone, created by PowerVision, uses sonar to find fish 40 meters away and then makes use of a “fish luring light” with a remote-controlled precision bait drop to track and catch the fish for you.
PowerRay can dive to depths of 30 meters and mimics the movement of fish (to get in with the school). Video and images are taken by an integrated ultra-high-definition (UHD) camera that is sent to a connected app. It can also capture data on the underwater landscape and temperature.
View the app on your phone or wear a pair of gesture-based virtual reality goggles to get a more immersive experience in the water. Or, if you don’t feel like fishing and just want to enjoy the view, switch to video mode or take some pictures. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of something more interesting than a mackerel.
