Prevent Fieldbus Segment Failures

Sept. 12, 2006
The TG200 Trunkguard Series Fieldbus Device Couplers use a “fold-back” technique to disconnect a shorted instrument from a fieldbus segment, thus preventing complete segment failure, says the vendor.
The fold-back technique relies on a logic circuit on each “spur” that detects a short in an instrument, disconnects that spur from the segment and illuminates an LED. The TG200 also simplifies commissioning and startup through a patented Automatic Segment Termination feature designed to eliminate problems caused by over- or under-termination. This feature automatically activates when the device coupler determines that it is the last fieldbus junction device in the segment, thus terminating the segment correctly.Moore Industries-International Inc.www.miinet.comPhone: 818.894.7111
