July 9, 2025
From collaborative robots, embedded computing, controllers, linear guides and panel PCs to Time-Sensitive Networking switches, Taiwan Excellence award winners showcased a range of key automation technologies at Automate 2025 that are reshaping manufacturing floors worldwide.

Taiwan Excellence is an annual awards program launched by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1993. All products carrying the Tiawan Excellence symbol have been selected for specific Taiwan Excellence Awards based on their excellence in R&D, design and quality. The Taiwan Excellence symbol is trademarked and promoted in 106 countries and regions.

At Automate 2025 in Detroit, the following Taiwan Excellence products of interest to the Automation World audience were showcased:

Fatek Automation

Fatek Automation’s M Series controllers can run up to 2048 DIO and 256 AIO and be expanded with up to 14 serial communication ports and 64 expansion modules. Each extension module has an independent MCU that can perform complex real-time computing tasks. Communication analysis, auto-tuning and various post-processing can be executed directly on the module. FHB transmission technology can transfer data instantly without delay when monitoring large amounts of control data from multiple modules at a rate of up to 10 times faster than CANbus. The controller’s bus connector is designed with a dedicated vibration damping joint to absorb the vibration effects caused by the machine and the environment.

HiWin Technologies

HiWin Technologies' Linear Guideway RG series is designed for use in CNC machining centers, injection molding machines, EDM and wire cutting machines, and gantry machines. This linear guideway series features a roller as the rolling element instead of ball bearings, providing a longer service life than traditional ball bearing linear guideways. The RG series is designed with a 45-degree angle of contact, meaning that elastic deformation of the linear contact surface during loading is greatly reduced. This provides greater rigidity and higher load capacities in all four load directions. The RG series linear guideway offers high performance for high-precision manufacturing and can achieve a longer service life than traditional ball bearing linear guideways.

Leantec Technology

Leantec Technology's LA1206-10 robotic arm is IP54-rated and designed for light payload operations (up to 10 kg) in narrow workspaces with operating temperature from 0-45°C. Its speed extends to 706°/sec and it delivers ±0.05mm position repeatability. The robot is equipped with 16 I/O which can be expanded for more complex applications. The robot can be mounted upright to the floor, upside-down or on an angle mount. The robot’s hollow wrist allows air hoses and I/O sensor cables be installed from the base to the flange for easier cable management.

Mitac Digital Technology

Mitac Digital Technology's MX2-10ADP embedded computer is designed for factory automation, machine vision, and intelligent transportation system markets. Processors in this embedded computer are Intel 12th/13th/14th Gen Core I. The MX2-10ADP’s Xpansion I/O Module supports up to 10 PoE (power over Ethernet) ports and a PCIex16 GPU card for graphics and AI applications. Other features include 8x USB, 3x RS232, 8-bit DIO, and a 9-48V power range.

Novakon

Novakon’s NPP-156P01 and NPP-215P01 were the first certified panel PCs in Siemens Industrial Edge Ecosystem. For machine builders and plant managers to connect, manage and operate the machines centrally or remotely, Novakon has made it possible by integrating Siemens Industrial Edge Runtime into the NPP series of industrial panel PCs. Features include: fanless 15.6-in. and 21.5-in. wide format with modular design panel PC, Intel Celeron J6412/N97/Core i3-N305 processors, IP66-rated front panel with a true flat touch design, 7H hardness glass with P-Cap touch or protection glass, panel mount/VESA mount capability, two GbE Ethernet ports, four COM ports (two RS-232 and two RS-232/422/485), five USB ports (four 3.2 Gen1 and one 2.0) and power input range from 9-36V DC.

Planet Technology

Planet Technology's TSN-6325-8T4S4X is a new industrial-grade Layer 3 Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) managed Ethernet switch which features eight 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports, four 1G/2.5GBASE-X SFP ports and four 10GBASE-SR/LR SFP+ ports in a rugged IP30 metal case. This switch supports TSN IEEE standards, including IEEE 802.1AS-REV profile for time synchronization, IEEE 802.1Qbv enhancements for scheduled traffic, IEEE 802.1Qbu frame pre-emption, IEEE 802.3br interspersing express traffic (IET), IEEE 802.1Qci for per-stream filtering and policing (PSFP) and IEEE 802.1CB frame replication and elimination for reliability (FRER) for seamless redundancy. With 10Gbps fiber interfaces, the TSN-6325-8T4S4X can handle extremely large amounts of data in a secure topology linking to an industrial backbone, 5G NR base station or Wi-Fi6/6E wireless AP. The switch is capable of providing non-blocking switch fabric and wire-speed throughput as high as 116 Gbps in the temperature range from -40 to 75°C.

Touché Solutions

T-Skin from Touché Solutions is designed to be added to existing industrial robots in manufacturing operations to make them safe for humans to work around without fencing and does not interfere with any robot’s range of operation. A light touch of 1 kg in force will trigger a shutdown, whether the object touching the robot is conductive or non-conductive.  T-Skin can be used on robots from ABB, Epson, Fanuc, Kawasaki, Kuka, Mitsubishi Electronic and Yamaha and does not interfere with any robot’s range of operation. LED indicators on each panel show its working status to make repairs or replacement straightforward. Touché Solutions has acquired ISO 13849-1 functional safety and ISO 13856-3 product safety for its T-Skin products.
