Physical Modeling Partnership

June 30, 2011
B&R Automation and Maplesoft announces a partnership to further development of physical modeling for industrial automation and machine design. The partnership brings together two products, MapleSim (Maplesoft) and Automation Studio (B&R), to provide quicker verification of virtual simulation development.

MapleSim is a physical modeling and simulation tool built on a foundation of symbolic computation technology. Applications include models for multi-domain systems, plants and factories, and control design. B&R's open architecture Automation Studio provides time-savings by verifying simulation work done in MapleSim. The simulation verification is a "hardware-in-the-loop" solution that emulates a machine or plant's behavior in real-time. Physical modeling is tested using B&R's controller hardware.

"Using MapleSim and Automatin Studio, users can very quickly develop high-fidelity molds of the control plant, analyze the dynamics and then generate optimized real-time code for the plant. And engineers will be able to increase virtual testing prior to hardware commitments, says Dr. Laurent Bernardin, vp, research and development, Maplesoft.
