Renesas Electronics to Acquire Wireless Product Company

Renesas Electronics will expand its technology portfolio through the acquisition of Panthronics.

An electronics manufacturer is expected to close on the acquisition of a near-field communications company by the end of the calendar year. Through the acquisition of fabless semiconductor company Panthronics, Renesas Electronics will grow its connectivity technology portfolio.

“Connectivity has been a priority area of ours, expanding and differentiating the realm of solutions we offer. We see tremendous opportunities for Panthronics’ NFC connectivity technology,” Renesas CEO Hidetoshi Shibata told Control Design.
