Versatile Robot Handles Repetitive, Dangerous Work on Press Brakes

June 1, 2021

Operating press brakes is a potentially dangerous part of metal part fabrication. To produce more parts of higher-quality without adding risk to workers, Acieta introduces the new FastBEND press brake tending robotic cell.

The versatile FastBEND robotic solution can be integrated with new or existing press brakes and may be outfitted for bin, pallet and conveyor outputs to process a wide variety of formed parts. As a pre-engineered system, the FastBEND is ready for delivery as soon as twelve weeks.

“Fabricators get a competitive advantage right away when using the FastBEND standard press brake tending cell by Acieta because it processes so many parts, not only with accuracy and speed, but with a totally predictable flow. That consistency allows them to rely on the production schedule without it being hampered by all the things that are causing struggles for today’s employers.” said Chris Poole, Regional Automation Manager.

With a queue of four to six different parts and up to 725-1,100kg in blanks, even the standard cell can run for hours in lights-out continuous operation. Adding the second drawer cabinet option doubles the part numbers and material that can be queued. With its high capacity and low cost per part, it’s typical for shops to see an ROI in 18 to 24 months.

When paired with some press brakes, the FastBEND can perform autonomous brake tooling (optional) and programming change-overs, allowing longer periods of unattended operation. There is a wide array of standard and custom end-of-arm tooling options to suit most applications. With offline programming capabilities, the brake keeps forming while new jobs are programmed.
