Backed by the employee-led VISION Committee volunteer group, Mitsubishi Electric Automation Inc. donated $25,000 to Northern Illinois Food Bank and $25,000 to A Safe Place.

As part of its commitment to pursue philanthropic opportunities through the employee-led VISION Committee, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. donated $50,000 in December 2021 to two nonprofit organizations in the Chicagoland area that make a difference in the community.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank has several locations throughout Chicagoland and serves neighbors in 13 counties, providing 250,000 meals per day. In addition to the donation, several Mitsubishi Electric Automation employees participated in a volunteer food-packing event organized by the VISION Committee.

A Safe Place is the sole provider of services exclusively addressing domestic violence and human trafficking in Lake County, Illinois. This nonprofit organization assists victims after violence, and prevents future abuse by addressing its root cause through abuser intervention programs. A Safe Place also educates youth, teens, and the community at-large about domestic violence and human trafficking, what the warning signs are, and what everyday people can do to help put an end to it.

“$25,000 buys a lot of food and it will mean a lot to people, especially now over the holidays,” said Dave Brearton of Mondelez International, and a board member of Northern Illinois Food Bank. “Every dollar makes a difference in our ability to help survivors and their children. It has literally saved lives and prevented further violence,” said Damaris Lorta, chief development officer at A Safe Place.
