Littelfuse Sponsors Race Promotion at IndyCar Events

May 11, 2012
Littelfuse, Inc., a maker of industrial circuit protection, has created a “behind-the-scenes” IndyCar weekend Race Experience for the engineering community.

The “Speed2Design” promotion, connected to five upcoming races on the 2012 Izod IndyCar schedule, will bring participants behind the scenes for the weekend to spend time with the team engineers and pit crew behind the Littelfuse co-sponsored No. 11 Mouser Electronics/Geico/KV Racing Technology Chevrolet Dallara driven by IndyCar champion Tony Kanaan.  “Speed2Design” participants will be chosen at random during the next few months and there’s no cost to winners; a travel voucher, lodging and event expenses will be covered by Littelfuse. To enter and learn more, visit www.speed2design.com.

“The innovative designs and high-efficiency performance found in IndyCar racing relate to the Littelfuse 85-year history of developing innovative and highly reliable products for our automotive and electronics customers. Engineers truly value and understand the technology challenges, demands and reliability required of the electronics system in a machine traveling 200 MPH,” said Gordon Hunter, President and CEO of Littelfuse. “Speed2Design will provide an opportunity for engineers to explore that technology in a very personal, accessible setting. Just as with racing, we understand that the first one to cross the finish line wins, and we want to position our customers to leading when it comes to their designs.”
The “Speed2Design” events will take place during five races between May and September in the 2012 Izod IndyCar series:  Indianapolis, IN, (May 27), Fort Worth, TX, (June 9), Qingdao, China (August 19), Sonoma, CA, (August 26) and Fontana, CA. (September 15).
“Speed2Design” was created by Littelfuse to allow the design community an exclusive opportunity to meet and talk with race car engineers about some of the most demanding and advanced technology in use today. Littelfuse will randomly select five participants who enter the promotion to attend each “Speed2Design” event.
The “Speed2Design” program is a series of weekend activities surrounding the race, creating a unique experience of hands-on activities, interactive presentations and entertainment.  Each weekend will highlight a “TechTalk” presentation just for “Speed2Design” participants to talk face-to-face with the KV Racing team engineers responsible for building and maintaining racing’s premier performance machines.
“Speed2Design” will allow participants to become part of the race environment, with exclusive access to the No. 11 IndyCar.  “Speed2Design” participants will visit the team engineering transport, the pit, garage and track areas during practice/qualifying runs along with spending time in the pit box area that controls sensor-related data acquisition control panels.  A variety of race-related hospitality events are included and of course, as is reserved grandstand seating for that weekend’s race.
