Averna, an industry-leading developer of test solutions and services for communications and electronics device-makers worldwide, announced it has been selected by the Power Matters Alliance as test equipment supplier for the PMA certification program of wireless charging devices. Averna will provide best-in-class automated testing equipment for certifying finished products and for validating products during development. The full certification program is targeted to launch in early January 2014 for receiver products.
The PMA is also partnering with three industry certification test labs, including UL (Underwriters Laboratories), AT4 wireless (AT4), and TÜV Rheinland (TÜV). The labs will serve as testing grounds for PMA member companies wishing to certify products using the PMA standard. Certification coverage will span the globe with locations in the U.S., Europe, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China. This network of partners will support companies anywhere they are located, offering a world-class program to get products tested quickly and efficiently.
“As the wireless charging category matures, the need for global interoperability across multiple industries and products is mandatory to ensure accelerated market growth,” said Ron Resnick, PMA President. “Consumers want to know that they can power up their devices wherever they go, and that charging their devices works seamlessly wherever they go. It’s our job to ensure that they do.”
“We view the PMA certification as a critical step in successful global interoperability and in the advancement of a next-generation wireless charging ecosystem,” Jean-Levy Beaudoin, for Averna. “Averna has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of test technology development for electronics device-makers worldwide and we are committed to maintaining this position by supporting our customers with innovative test solutions that contribute to their success.”
