Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) challenges students to build and program robots to perform tasks and compete with their peers. High school students have the opportunity to learn from professional engineers, build their own robots, learn sophisticated software and hardware, participate in alliances and tournaments, and qualify for more than $18 million in college scholarships.
Teams of students have six weeks to design and build robots with the help of engineers and mentors. The competitions – short games played by the robots, controlled by the students – take place in March and April, followed by regional events taking place over three days. TheFIRST Championship event ends the season. This year, 68,000 students from 17 countries will participate in the games. Teams are awarded for robot design, technology, sportsmanship and commitment to FIRST.
WAGO Corporation has been recognized as a gold supplier to FRC and will participate in the FIRST Championship Supplier Showcase from April 24-26, 2014 at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Mo. The FIRST Championship Conference will feature a series of workshops for FRC teams, coaches, mentors, students and prospective leaders focusing on inspiration and recognition of science and technology.
